Show RAWLINS' DECEPTIONS. H Senator Rawlins, in his reply to Senator De- H pew, was simply practicing on the supposed Ignor- H ance of the country. When he declared, in sub. H stance, that what is un-American In the Mormon H system would all be cured in a little while If the H Saints could only be left to themselves, he made H a statement which was a direct stultification of H the position which he maintained through all his H young manhood. It was all the more disreputable H on his part because all his childhood ho was dis- H clplined in the tyrannies of the creed and, knows H that not one pretention of it has been surren- H dered; that even polygamy has merely been tern- H porarily suspended, and that the aim is just as H Senator Depew stated, to seize political power in H one state after another until a government "of jfl tne people, by the people and for the people," H shall be pushed from its place and an Asiatic des- II potlsm be reared upon its ruins. By the way, Is M Senator Rawlins in or out of the Church this II year? jM |
