Show j Daniel Harold "Sox" Spencer ESCALANTE Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Daniel Harold "Sox" Spencer, 87, passed away Dec. 25, 1999 at the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch after a long fight with cancer. He was born Feb. 12, 1912 in Escalante to Daniel Jared and Rhoda Elizabeth Lay Spencer. He married Anne Effie Chesnut, Mar. 27, 1933 in Escalante. She preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1991. They were the parents of nine children. He was a member of the LDS Church. He worked defense from 1940 through 1945 in Utah, Nevada and California, and also worked on both the Cimmeron and Glen Canyon Can-yon Dams. He had a great talent for building and was a contractorcarpenter contrac-torcarpenter for many years. He enjoyed and respected the outdoors and spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. He also spent time teaching and passing on his knowledge and talent to, not only his sons, but also, his grandsons. He will be greatly missed . and always remembered by all of those whose lives he touched. He is survived by three sons and two daughters: Harlen Jared (Winna) Spencer and Bradley Clay (Ruth-anne (Ruth-anne Oliver) Spencer, both of Escalante, Esca-lante, William Cody (Shirlene) Spencer of Lehi, CaraMon (Charles) (Char-les) Anderson of Escalante, Rhoda . He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; sons: Kirk and Kevin Spencer; daughters: Cosette Spencer, Spen-cer, Effie Kae Nicholes; grandson: Max Smith; brothers: Vincent, Grant and Verge Spencer; sisters: Myrna and Louise Mounteer. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. in the Escalante LDS Stake Center where friends may call Thursday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery. Funeral directors: direc-tors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Douglas C. Worthen Douglas C. Worthen, 86, of Orem died Wednesday in Provo, Utah. He was born Apr. 6, 1913 in Panguitch, a son of Samuel Arthur and Mary Alice Cameron Worthen. He married Myrtle Davis, Mar. 21, 1938 in Devils Slide, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 16, 1941. He was raised and educated in Panguitch. He was an active member mem-ber of the LDS Church residing in the Orem Sharon 4th Ward where he served in many capacities. He served as a temple worker at the Provo temple for many years. Survivors include one daughter and four sons: Mrs. Richard (Mary Louise) Rigby of West Valley . City; Melvin Douglas Worthen of Taylorsville; David Eugene Worthen of Bountiful; Richard Chris Worthen of Mesa, Ariz.; and Robert Samuel Worthen of Provo. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, grand-children, 33 great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters: Vee Worthen of Panguitch; Keith Worthen of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Eugene (Fay) Darger of Salt Lake ; i , Douglas Worthen City; and Ms. Beth Nolf of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle, an infant son, a granddaughter, and a brother. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at the Sharon 4th Ward Chapel in Orem. Interment was in the Orem City Cemetery. Ann Barnedt KANAB Ann Elise Porter Barnedt, age 54, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She was born Jan. 30, 1945 in Escalante, to Martha Elise Thompson and Preston Porter. She married Vanoy David Tullis, they later divorced. She married Robert Dean Barnedt, they later divorced. Ann loved crafts of all kinds, and was a talented tole painter. She was employed as a clerk at Glazier's Food Town in Kanab at the time of her death, Ann was a kind, sweet person who loved her family above all else. Survivors include her sons Shane Tullis of Kanab; Kevin (Audrey) Tullis of Kanab; and Clint Barnedt of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers and sisters: Clea Woolsey of Escalante; Esca-lante; Betty Alvey of Escalante; Richard (Virginia) Porter of Woods Cross; Rosalie (Jerry) Coleman of Kanab; and Kathleen (Steve) Gould-ing Gould-ing of Henrieville; grandchildren Ciji, Holly, and Kyle.
