Show Connonvillc? Hgvjs By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 Saturday, Jeremy Mathew Moss received his endowments at the St. George LDS temple preparatory to living on a mission. He has been called to serve in the Cordoba, Argentina Ar-gentina mission and will enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo Feb. 16. He is presently learning the Spanish language and preparing for a missionary life style. Don and Louise Mangum spent three days in St. George. 'They stayed one night in Ivins with the Melvin Mangum family, then spent a day at the LDS temple. The next night was spent at the home of David and Andrea Mathews where Joey and Aloha Mathews joined them for dinner and an evening of visiting. They saw all the beautiful Christmas lights. The Mel Beards attended the graduation of a grandson in Mesa, Ariz., on Dec. 15 and then took advantage of the trip to visit friends and attend a family Christmas party. On the way home they de-toured de-toured to Cedar City to visit their son Aaron in his new home. Bonnie Willis spent several days in Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch.' She thought she had broken her hip again, but it had become disjointed and was very painful. Her son, Kaymar, came from Antimony and took her to spend the holidays with them. We all wish her a speedy recovery. In LDS sacrament meeting Sunday, Sun-day, several sisters, Rita Hammer, Andrea McCormick and Melanie Ott, were called as class leaders. The youth speaker was Bethany Comp, followed by recently returned re-turned missionary, Elder Chad Seiler. A vocal solo by Gaylena Gary, "I Saw Him Come," accompanied accom-panied by her cousin, Troy Riffel was sung. These young people are the grandchildren of Mike and Cookie Riffel. Erma Clarke attended a session at the St. George LDS temple on Wednesday, along with Lester and Vertis Clarke. Afterward, Jim Clarke and Ethel LeFevre joined them at the home of sister, Mar-gene Mar-gene Moore, where Jim and Lester gave her a blessing as she was having hav-ing surgery the next day. They remained for dinner and a visit. Bishop Larry Fletcher and wife, Glenna, along with sons, Richard, Bryce and Leon Fletcher and granddaughter, grand-daughter, Pamela, visited in St. George with Clement and Marie Broderick. Larry and Glenna went to the LDS temple with Jeremy Moss and his parents. Lynn and Misty Cox came to visit Golden and Roxanna Johnson and to show off their new little daughter, Meaghann. They had attended the funeral services for Harvey Mecham. Arjean Twitchell and daughter, Cherlyn Twitchell and Tammy and Brittany Twitchell of Cedar City attended the Nutcracker Ballet in Salt Lake City. They were also accompanied by Lori Munford and daughters, Tanya and Cami Munford. Mun-ford. Vaughn Twitchell spent several days attending the LDS temple. The Doug Twitchell and Karl Munford families of Cedar City came for a Christmas party with the Vaughn Twitchell family. Gloria Clark had family members, mem-bers, the Fred Syretts, the Klyn Chynoweths, and the Kowan Otts at her home Friday for their traditional tradi-tional Christmas Eve dinner. Elder Daniel Thompson returned home from his mission in Brazil. He contracted a rare parasite just after his arrival there. The LDS church authorities sent him to Salt Lake City to determine the nature of his illness. After extensive blood tests and an MRI, Dr. Devon Hale at the University of Utah diagnosed di-agnosed it as Cysticcercosis, a parasite para-site contained in uncooked pork. Daniel is undergoing treatment now and hopefully will be able to return tohis missionary work soon. He and his family wish to thank everyone every-one for their prayers and support. In case you are wondering what happened to the news the last two weeks, I played hooky and went to Cedar City with my daughter Rosemary for a few days. Then she took me to Henderson to spend several days with my son, John, his wife, Fonda, and their son, Jack Fletcher. |
