Show B8 The DINO PAGE Castle Valley Review, March 2009 Outgoing Dino has Fun with Life Rebecca Goodrich Dino of the Month Each month the Castle Valley Review will highlight a different Carbon High student in the newspaper. The student selected will not necessarily be chosen based on their grade point average or involvement in athletics, but on their interest, hobbies and accomplishments, both academically and in their personal life. Boyd Marsing, a junior, is a friendly, well-rounded individual. Those who know him describe him as being well-liked, outgoing, and energetic. “Boyd has a friendly attitude and is always kind”, says Mrs. Swenson, a counselor at Carbon High School. “He has a great sense of humor” and is always “willing to participate… in many facets of the educational experience.” Boyd is a natural leader and has the student government experience to prove it. Boyd was the sophomore student body president last year and is currently president of the junior class. He enjoys planning activities for the students at Carbon High. Sports are a favorite of Boyd’s; he attends the Carbon High games often to support the teams and show off his school spirit. He also likes to play soccer. In addition, he enjoys hanging out with friends, playing foosball, and just “being goofy.” Brandon Gagnon, a friend of Boyd’s, seconds this statement. He is “always playing jokes on people,” said Brandon, “lots of jokes on lots of people.” He also said that Boyd is “very outgoing” and is a “hard worker.” Being drawn to the outdoors, it is no wonder some of Boyd’s favorite activities include hunting, fishing, and camping. Some may not know that he also loves animals and has worked with a variety, including chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, turkeys, and sheep. His dream is to “rope a cougar,” just like his grandfather. Boyd’s mother, Caleen Marsing, says that Boyd “gets along well with people” and “makes friends easily,” whether they are kids his own age or the elderly. She describes him Boyd Marsing enjoys a little high-flying fun. also as being very “responsible.” Another interest of Boyd’s is a member of the Renaissance Boyd’s building. “He’s always building Club, a club known for the sermother calls Boyd “a little stuff,” remarks his mom.
