Show FOSTER PARENTS DAY HELD AT LEGION HALL Foster Parents Day Reception Recep-tion was held in Duchesne May 4th at 2:00 p. m. , at The American Legion Hall. The reception was given under the auspices of the Duchesne Duch-esne County Welfare Dept, sponsored by The American Legion Auxiliary Unit No, 22. Those who attended were welcomed by Stephen Huey, the child welfare worker of Duchesne County. Helen Merkley, accompanied accompan-ied by Karen Gleave sang, "In His Daddy's Shoes". Paul Sanchez, San-chez, director of Social Services Ser-vices for the B. I. A. at Fort Duchesne, spoke telling of some of his experiences in child welfare work and commended com-mended foster parents for the excellent work that they are doing. Helen Merkley then sang, "Without a Song". Certificates were awarded to all active foster parents with more than five years of service. Mrs. William (Jessie) Peatross, with the most years of service as a foster parent, 17 years, told of her experiences exper-iences as a foster parent. Mrs. Allen Bancroft, one of the younger foster mothers, also spoke briefly. The reception was attended by the Duchesne County Welfare Wel-fare Dept. staff 5 director CD. Moat; caseworkers, Ronald Liddell and Kay Ferrell, as well as Hyrum Toone, director of Uintah County Welfare Dept. and Kathryn Mason, child welfare worker from the same county. The American Legion i ! 1 Auxiliary furnished punch and cookies which were served by Mrs. Woodrow Day, president; presi-dent; Mrs. Tatton Bench; and Mrs. John Burdick. |
