Show ALTiMONT - MTo EMMONS By LO IS LaROSE Julie Ross, six year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ross of Upalco, was injured when she carted into the path of an auto driven by Rue Miles of Mtn. Home. Julie Jul-ie was hospitalized for five days in the Roosevelt hospital suffering suffer-ing from head injuries as well as cuts and bruises. She is at home now recovering very well. Mr. Miles swerved to miss Julie but the bumper caught her just enough to throw her onto the pavement., Causing Mr. Miles to loose control of his auto and rolled the vehicle over. 'He escaped with only minor cuts, but suffered shock. All are doing well at this time. Pvt. Larry Cook of Camp Hood, Texas, was visiting friends here over the weekend. Pvt. Cook is serving with the Armored Division as truck driver. He is spending part of his fifteen day furlough with his grandmother, Mrs. Preston Allen, and with his wife, who is attending school in Las Vegas, before returning to camp on the 16th, He reports his division is getting prepared to ship out to Vietnam. He went to school.at Altamont before enlisting in the Army. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Thack-er Thack-er and family went to Ftovo Friday to attend the wedding reception of Miss Petrea Gillispie. Her father was a former principal of Altamont High School. Saturday night they attended another reception recep-tion for a niece, Arbra Thacker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thacker of Salt Lake City. For more extended pleasure they motored on to Hanksville to visit their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thacker. They returned home late Sunday night. Word was received at Altamont Alta-mont this week of the death of Mrs. Eliza Neilson, former home ec teacher of Altamont High School. She died of natural causes in a Salt Lake rest home. Her funeral was held at Mt. Pleasant Thursday at 1 p. m. in the Mt. Pleasant Fourth LDS Ward Chapel. She taught at Altamont for several years before her retirement in 1957. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mohl-man Mohl-man of Provo spent Mother's Day weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mohlman. Mrs. Norma Hansen and children went to Roosevelt Sunday to spend Mother !s Day with their great Grandmother, Mrs. Marion bnieias. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Smith Saturday was their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Ralphs of Vernal and their son, Butch Foutz, who is working in Vernal. Ver-nal. A large crowd attended the wedding reception of Sherry Carroll and Rodney Coates at the Chapel on Saturday night. The couple were married in the Manti IDS Temple in April. A beautiful yellow quilt with embroidered roses was quilted Thursday at Mrs. Waldo Hansen's residence. A delicious lunch was served to the following follow-ing ladies who quilted: Mrs. Juanita LaRose, Delaine Tid-well, Tid-well, Vista Wall, LaVerda Powell, Lois LaRose and Vera Hansen. The quilt is a wedding gift for Larry who is getting married May 14th at Altamont. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ham-berg Ham-berg of Magna, Mr. and Mrs. Glendon Hamberg and sons of Vernal and Rex Hamberg of the BYU were home Sunday for Mother's Day with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hamberg. Mrs. Juanita LaRose held the lucky ticket and won the bridle given away at the Stock Show by the Altamont Variety Arts Club. Mr. and Mrs. LaFarge Das-trup Das-trup spent Mother's Day in Provo visiting Flora's mother, Mrs. Henry Pederson, who is a patient at the Utah Valley Hospital. Other relatives gathered at the hospital and a family party was held honoring honor-ing Mrs. Pederson. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Lyons of Coalville called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Bahr on Mother's Day. They moved recently to Coalville where Phil is working with the Interstate Inter-state Highway Department. Carly and Janniece Leis, students at BYU, left their . studies this weekend and spent Mother's Day with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dastrup. A tupperware party was held at Mrs. Delaine Tidwell's home on Thursday with Arlene Potts, Juanita LaRose, LaVerda Powell, Lois LaRose, Vivie Reay, Mrs. George Rogers enjoying the demonstration about the articles given by Mrs. Letta Meyer of Bridgeland, who is the agent in this area for Tupperware. The Young Marrieds gathered gather-ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miles Wednesday evening for a potluck supper and lesson social. Seven couples were present and enjoyed en-joyed the evening. They were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Estes, Alma Young and Virginia Vir-ginia Brotherson. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miles drove to Woodruff, Utah, Saturday to bring out a load of furniture to Duchesne for Mrs. Miles parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Muir. They are moving back to Duchesne after living some time in Woodruff. |
