Christensen, 64, Sandy, Utah, died Sunday night in St. Mark's Hospital as a result of injuries received in a two-truck head-on collision colli-sion near Addley's Store at Fruitland. Mrs. Christensen was the only passenger in the 1966 pickup truck driven by her husband, hus-band, Ho Andrew Christensen, 68. He suffered severe lacerations lacer-ations of the mouth and minor cuts and bruises. Mr. Christensen Christen-sen told investigating officers he was making a left-hand turn into the store at the time of the collision. The pickup he was driving was headed west, and crashed into the pickup driven eastern-ly eastern-ly by Arden David Sullivan, 38, of Salt Lake City. Sullivan Sulli-van suffered a fractured pelvis, compound fracture of the right hand, and cuts and bruises. His two sons, Michael Arden Sullivan, 11, and Douglas Doug-las Grant Sullivan, 6, were injured also, but apparently not critically. They were passengers in the father's pickup. All five persons involved in the collision were taken by ambulance to the Heber Valley Hospital. The Christensens were transferred to St. Mark's Hospital, SLC. The accident occurred at 3:25 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 40, 25 miles west of Duchesne. The pickups are classed as total losses; the Sullivan vehicle vehi-cle $1, 800 and the Christensen vehicle $2, 400. Citation was pending further investigation. The accident was investigated investigat-ed by Keith Hooper, Duchesne, and Duane Richens, Roosevelt, highway patrolmen. Stewart's ambulance from , Roosevelt was called to trans- port the Christensen 's, and Arden Ar-den Sullivan, and Harold Thomas, Duchesne City mar-shall mar-shall took the two boys to the hospital in the city car-ambulance. GEORGE MARETT HEADS SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION Duchesne County Sheriff George E. Marett heads the Utah Sheriffs Association as president. He was elected to this position when Raymond Jackson, Nephi, Juab County Sheriff, was appointed as Utah Public Safety Commissioner recently by Gov. Calvin L. Rampton. Mr. Marett was vice president of the association, associa-tion, having been elected in January at the annual meeting of this association of sheriffs. He will serve the unexpired term of Mr. Jackson, which was for the year, ending in January, 1967. Other officers of the association asso-ciation are Evan G. Whitehead, St. George, sheriff of Washington Washing-ton County, first vice president; John M. Leamaster, sheriff of Emery County, Castle Dale, second vice president. A secretary is to be appointed. |
