Show Centerville readies for primary election Lynn Averett Contributing Writer CENTERVILLE - In its monthly public meeting, the council approved several issues. Appointments of Receiving and Counting Judges for both the October third Primary and November seventh General Municipal elections were approved. Also passed was the sale of one-of-fo- ur surplus arched baseball backstops to Farmington City for $3,500. Revenue from the sale will be deposited in the Parks Capital Improvement Fund to help defray costs of the Community Park construction. The council approved Mayor Priscilla Todds appointments of temporary justice court judges David Y. Payne (North Salt Lake Justice Court), John Sandberg (Clinton Justice Court), Harry Rodabough (Woods Cross Justice Court) and Dale M. Valentine (Farmington Justice Court). In the absence of Centervilles Judge Gerald L. Jensen, one of the temporary judges can be asked to serve. Two public hearings were held and pertinent ordinances passed following public input. First, an ordinance which determines where residential facilities for elderly persons will be allowed and whether they would be a conditional or permitted use within agricultural and residential zones. The city recently amended the definition section of the Zoning Ordinance to define residential facilities for elderly persons. A facility must be approved by Utah State Social Services and run by an accredited organization. A public hearing was held on a rezone issue. Robert Holmes and Tingey Real Estate Company asked for a rezone of approximately 6.3 acres located on the comer of 400 West and 1000 North from agriculture to residential. Rezone was approved but development of the property may be subject to conditions imposed by the city at a later date. Also approved was a resolution authorizing the mayor and city recorder to sign a new interlocal agreement and lease agreement with the South Davis Fire District. The Fire District will pay $1 per year to lease Fire Station number three located on Centervilles Main Street for the next 50 years. 1 ON TARGET The new Target store in Centerville is beginning to look like a building.
