The county's CAFR is prepared by the County ClerkAuditor's Office with technical assistance provided by auditors Deloitte and Utah County, Davis County, Utah Davis County, Utah Expenditures Governmental Funds Year Ended December 31, 1992 Operating Expenses Proprietary Funds Year Ended December 31, 1992 Touche. Interest and Other Claims $1,790,804 $52,702 The report has been published and provides information on both a financial and nature. Residents of Davis 5 4 2 5 County, investors and creditors, consumer groups, and many others can obtain valuable information in the report. The report is organized into four main sections, Introductory, Financial, Statistical and Single Audit. Following are excerpts from the report. The economy of Davis County continues to be a bright spot on a local, regional, and national level. The county shares the same strong worth ethic that the entire state of Utah is noted for. The current work force is 80,500 strong with an annualized unemployment rate for calendar 1992 as 4.4 percent. This is below the Utah rate of 4.9 percent and the national rate of 7.4 percent. Manufacturing firms employ 13 percent of the county's work force. Forty-thre- e acres of land in Farmington were purchased in 1988 to accommodate the new Criminal Justice complex. In responding to newspaper reporters, spokesmen from CBS indicated that they chose the Davis County Criminal Justice Complex over all others in the state of Utah because of the "High-Tecappearance of the facility. During the 1960s, officials in Davis County were the thrust behind construction of a causeway from Syracuse to Antelope Island. The causeway was reopened in 1993 as a toll road where a modest toll charge will be collected in addition to the park entry fees. Davis County will receive a share of the toll fee to maintain and improve the road. The floods of 1983 created an "Ultra-Modem- ," h" 1.1 awareness within Davis County that strong measures needed to be taken in order to minimize future flood damage. Davis County sponsored a bond election and, along with state and federal grants to the county and its cities, was able to fund projects in excess of $20 million. Included are stoim drains and debris basins which utilize new and innovative approaches and flood control facilities which yield high efficiency and low cost. The last of these projects is scheduled to be completed in 1993. The CAFR has detailed information on revenues and expenditures. See accompanying charts. For more data, pictures of 400 East construction project 30 complete By PAUL CHALLIS News Editor BOUNTIFUL City Engineer Jack Balling the says n project along 400 East that has caused detours, angry drivers and rerouted traffic is 30 percent completed. The hard part of the project was installing utility and water lines , including cable TV wires, Balling said in a recent report to the City Council. This part of the project usually takes the longest time to complete. But the project is progressing on schedule and we hope to be done by the end of September. Balling said he realizes that the road construction project has been an for many inconvenience Bountiful residents using Orchard Drive and 400 East going to and from work and that it has been slow. He added his office has been deluged with calls for weeks. You will begin to see more progress now that die utility lines are installed. In other action, the council gave approval for a building lot at 473 West Pages Lane; and gave final acceptance of the Sterling Heights Subdivision. According to Balling, the developers have completed all improvements and the city should take over upkeep and maintenance of the subdivision.
