Show Democrats to Elect New State Chairman i Salt Lake City Wilford O. Frischknecht of Manti will deliver the keynote address at the Democratic Demo-cratic state convention Saturday in the Rainbow Randevu, State Comtmittee Chairman Calvin W. Rawlings announced Wednesday. Mr. Friachknechts acceptance completes the list of persons who will have charge of the convention at which a state committee chairman, chair-man, a chairwoman and! the state central committee will be selected. uxsLrrcL juage ADe Wj, Turner of Provo will serve as convention chlarman and Mrs. Merribel Stevenson Ste-venson of Ogden, as chairwoman. More than 1000 delegates will participate in the convention, although al-though there are only 800 votes apportioned among the counties. A number of counties have elected delegates with vote aech. The apportionment follows: Beaver, 9; Box Elder, 27; Cache 44; Carbon, 28; Daggett, 1; Davis, 21; Duchesne, 11; Emery, 10 Garfield, Gar-field, 5; Grand, 3; Iron, 11; Juab, 12; Kane, 2; Millard, 13; Morgan, t; Piute, 3; Rich, 3; Salt Lake. 328; San Juan, 3;. Sanpete, 22-Sevier, 22-Sevier, 16; Summit, 13; Tooele, 13; Uintah, 11; Utah, 72; Wasatch, T.Washington, T.-Washington, 11; Wiayne, 3- Weber, 95. Total, 800. The announced candidates for the state chairmanship include Mr. Rawlings, the Incumbent; Ira A. Huggins, Ogden; Olof R. Mlch-elsen, Mlch-elsen, Richfield, and Frank Olson, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Scott P. Stewart of 1089 Second avenue and for -many years a Provo resdent, Wednesday announced her candidacy for election elec-tion as chairwoman. Long active in the Democratic ranks, Mrs. Stewart is a former president of the women's Democratic olub and is the present chairwoman of the Fourth ward and director of the state reporter plan. She also has been prominent in the Bourbon study groups. Mrs. Mary H. Soues, Sat Lake City, is the only other announced candidate. Demacrateic State Chairman Calvin W. Rawlings will be reelected re-elected to that office on the first ballot at the party's state convention con-vention Saturday, Gordon Wegge-land, Wegge-land, cochairman of the committee directing his campaign, predicted Wednesday following a (canvass of Salt Lake county and the other 28 counties. |
