On a quota basis as per Troops and Scouters each district would have subscriptions to get as per the fol-lwoing: fol-lwoing: Logan District, 30 subscriptions. Cache District, 30 subscriptions. Hyrum District, 26 subscriptions. Oneida District, 26 subscriptions Franklin District, 28 subscriptions. subscrip-tions. Benson District, 24 subscriptions. Every ward of the Church is expected ex-pected to send one representative for each troop, Scout and Explorer. Explor-er. Each stake of the Curch will send an additional representative. Miller, National Nation-al assistant director of operations. Moving Tours and Camps A Troop or two have indicated their intention of unducting independent inde-pendent tours or moving camps outside the council territory. Cases of this kind are definitely under the supervision of the National Council. Any trooy contemplating to conduct such a program must make application to the National Camping committee for a permit to conduct such a camp. It takes approximately thirty days to clear such an application. Call at the office of-fice and ask for a blank if your troop has such plans. Let the Camping committee help you to prepare. DO IT NOW! Boys' Life Region Twelve,, last December, was given a quota of 9,393 new Boy's Life subscriptions. This quota to be reached before the Camping season opens. On May 2nd, this objective had been accomplished, ac-complished, or 6,576 subscriptions, but the Cache Valley Council had on that date reached but 26.9 per cent of it's quota. That is, 78 out of its quota of 290. The Cache Valey Council is 44th (should be first) among the forty seven councils of tue Region twelve. twel-ve. Are we going to be content to Archery Tournament Announced The Logan Archery club, cooperating coop-erating with the Logan Roxy theater the-ater and certain Logan business houses is (sponsoring an Archery tournament at the Logan High school campus at 1 p.m. Monday May 30 (Memorial day). Special worthwhile prizes 'Wlill be made to winners in each of several classes. Cache valley scouts of sixteen years of age and under are urged to participate in the Junior American round of the tournament Contests for them are in target, clout and wand shoots. Pony Express Riders To Be Honored The Oregon Trail Landmarks and Trails association has asked troops of the Cache valley council coun-cil to honor two Pony Express riders of Cache valley by locating and clearing their graves and by holding a special memorial service ser-vice at their graves on Memorial day. The riders are Howard R. Egan buried in the Richmond cemetery and William Fisher,, buried at Oxford. Troop 56 of Richmond, with one of Mr. Egan's decedents as a troop committeemen (Del-bert (Del-bert Egan) has accepted the services ser-vices for Mr. Egan. It is expected that Troop 42 of Oxford will render ren-der this service for William Fisher. Tuesday, May 17, members of Troop 93 who were coming up for second class cooking met at Young ward chapel at 8 p.m. where they passed cooking tests under direction di-rection of their scoutmaster Douglas Olsen. All troop committeemen commit-teemen and their wives were guests and the group was served a delicious supper of bean-whol-beans. Chapter of the American Red Cross, will begin a credited course in first aid at the Borden Milk factory at 7 p. mi., Friday, May 27. All Scouters desiring First Aid credit towards their Scoutmasters key or Scouters Training award should get in touch with Dr. Preston Pres-ton or report at Bordens on the date above mentioned. Silver Jubilee News Word has recently been received from the General Board of the Y. M. M. I. A., announcing the detailed detail-ed program for Scout participation at the L. D. S. Former Council Scouter Reports Scouter Alvin Hess, former district dis-trict chairman of the Cache d' trict and council leadership training train-ing chairman, who is on leave of absence from the Logan .city schools studying at Eugene, Oregon, Ore-gon, reports that he is enjoying his studies and expects, to be back in Logan some time in August. Au-gust. He says that he has kept in touch with scouting since leaving Cache valley. He recently attended at-tended a scout cij-cus promoted by the Willamete area council. He says it was good but thinks that Cache valley council could do better and suggests that we try. Mr. Hess sends his greeting to all Cache valley scouters and especially es-pecially those of Cache district, where he served for so many years Bridger Men (Explorer) Annual Expedition Where? The middle fork of the Salmon river in central Idaho. When? Leave Logan August 8th or 11th. How? By school bus. I Who? Any qualified explorer, fifteen year old scouts or older of scout troops not operating the explorer program. Any scouter or dad of scout or explorer. Cost? About $10 (oyer all) for ten days. Those planning to participate par-ticipate should begin now, developing devel-oping their equipment: tent, sleeping bag, reflector oven, pon-cho pon-cho or ground cloth, pack frame and mess kit. It will be the most thrilling of them all. We'll take in Craters of the Moon park and Sun valley lodge. Additional Explorer Hikes The Council will sponsor additional addit-ional two or three day Explorer hikes hi-kes to White Pine Lake, Old Eph-riama Eph-riama Grave, over hill to Bear Lake, etc. Definite times to be announced an-nounced later.
