Show Some Timely I Voting Instructions By Robert Crookston We always did know that a large, number of our people are too lazy, to read and inform themselves of' jwhat is going on in this immediate j : neighborhood. Time and again the papers have ' 'explained the new primary elec-on elec-on law and even now many, imen know but little about it, and !its worse with the women voters,1 they are better informed on mo-1 vie actors. j With the primary election only a few days off the Relief Society! presidents should call special meet-! ings and have some one explain! the primary law. Also, it would be a proper sub- 1 ject for nexf lsson in the Sun-' day parent's class, j Now don't anyone say that our church is not concerned in poli-'tics, poli-'tics, because that subject is still! the major problem and is more ; important than a location in the hereafter. I Note that some candidates, in ! bidding for your votes, stress the ' fact that they have been on a i mission, are in the bishopric, or! j sing in the choir, all of which has; 'nothing at all to do with Democ- racy. ! In some states the primary is over with and the defeated can- j Ididates blame the Republicans fori voting Democratic tickets. j Here in Cache County there wUlj I be no Republican names on the .primary ballot. And, in this thinly populated, j area every person knows each! j others politics as plainly as a i gentleman-cow knows a red shirt, j So that, inasmuch, as there are 'no Republican names on the ticket, they have no business to show up at the primary and you will recognize those that do show up and know they are either in sympathy with the liberals and come to help us snow in the conservatives, con-servatives, or else enminate what they consider the strongest Democrats Demo-crats with the hope of electing their own men in November. So after all when you see any Republicans at the Primary you. will know they are there to vote some kind of a Democratic ticket. Allright, remember this is the first time and future elections oan' be judged to some extent by this one. 1 Suppose the Republicans are in earnest about Bill Shaw for Sheriff. Sher-iff. The most simple thing in the world is for them to go en-mass and take a few Democratic friends to the primary and all vote for the weakest Democrat, then with this accomplished, they can have an easy victory at the final in November. |
