After a couple heartbreaks, the Warrior team was eased by Viewmont and Roy. Third Place was not exactly what the girls had planned on, in fact, at the beginning of the day, the girls were planning on taking first place. Due to some unforeseen problems, the girls took third, but third place in region isnt bad with such a young team Head coach Glenn Prisk often refers to Us Super Sophs. Sophs. n Another one of the days suprises was when Shanna Jenkins won the 100 yard dash beating a heavily favored Roy girl. Karen Gamer ran in g; A3 contraversial fifth place. Controversial because of a bad judgment on the judges part, according to Coach ' o p r; Prisk. team captain Lynelle Grant, qualified for state in the long jump by; placing fourth. Lynelle has been a' consistent strength on the Warrior team all year long. t Rhonda Calder was another Warrior strong point with many fine efforts in the hurdles. She took third in the 330 intermediates and fifth in the 110 low hurdles. She will also be going to state on the mile relay team. - ' encouragement to Sherri Rollo in Region COACH GLEN FRISK GIVES z All-st- JSl took top honors in the Region One high jump event. she will represent Weber at state Lisa Goodell placed third in the Javelin. Goodell has always been a competition. Among the relay team members are: Robyn Russell, strong link on the Warrior team, but Melanie Moore and Sherri RoOo. Miss she will no longer be throwing for Weber after this year. Russell will be running the open 440 as well as the mile relay. Miss Moore and Ann Parsons is another hurdler and KRISTIN FRAZIER , h meet. II Miss Rollo will both be running the mile and medley relays. Weber plans on a strong showing at the state meet to be held this Friday and Saturday at Weber State College. , Vi charity game set by football teams ar United Cerebral Palsy Association of Utah is proud to announce the 6th annual all star charity football game between Utah and Arizona will be held August 10, 8:30 p.m., at Rice Stadium. This year will be the third year that will meet. Gary Totland executive director of United Cerebral Palsy Assoc, announced that the coaches for this competition will be Gary Hansen of Layton High. Among some of the top honors, the warriors had high jumpers placed first and second. Those jumpers were Mark Montgomery and Bruce Thorpe. Mark set a new school record with his jump! of 67. Among the other winners were Scott Martini in the Hurdles. Scott took second in the 110 yard high hurt&es setting another school record with a time of 14.5 seconds.
