Show A PROCLAMATION BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE Whereas, in order to prosecute to a speedy and successful tcrmin- ation the war in which this country is now engaged, it is necessary primarily to greatly Increase the food production of the nation and to carefully conserve the food supply; and Whereas, in order to increase the food production, it is noces- sary to urge upon all farmers to increase their cultivated acreage and to take steps to increase the yield of each acre under cultivation and to impress upon the owners of vacant city property the Importance of planting gardens that our supply of vegetables may be Increased; and Whereas, it is Imperative that all families learn the Importance of eliminating all possible waste ot food supplies and of reducing the consumption of food as much as is consistent with the health and com- tort of our people; Now, therefore, I, Simon Bamberger, Governor of the State of Utah, do hereby proclaim and set aside Friday, April 27th, 1017, as a day to be observed In all schools of the State upon which educators shall impress upon students the necessity of Increasing the food pro- duction and of carefully conserving all food supplies and also observe the day with special exercises; and I also hereby proclaim and set aside Sunday, April 2 !) t h , 1917, hh Production and Conservation Day throughout the Stale of -Utah and recommend that on this day all good citizens take steps to impress upon the public the observance of measures designed to help In the movement for a greater production and conservation of food; and I would recommend that this day be observed In all churches with appropriate sermons by the pastors thereof, by all business houses of the State with appropriate window displays and in their advertls-' Ing matter and by the daily newspapers through special articles on this subject In their Sunday editions. i In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused to i be aflixed the Great Seal of the State of Utah.
