Show Tntermountain Hews. BUTTE, MONT. Mrs. Margaret Sheehan of Eureka. Utah, and Mrs. P. Holland of Park City, Utah, arrived in. Butte Friday of last week to attend the funeral of their brother, D. D. Sullivan. f The funeral of William E. Hennessy was held last Saturday afternoon from j the family residence, 221 Watson avenue. ave-nue. Services were held at Sacred Heart church, with Rev. An event of interest to a-large circle of friends' of the bride and bridegroom-elect bridegroom-elect is the marriage of Mrs. Fanny MacDonald and Mr. W., Frank -Byrne. Invitations have been issued cnlv to close friends and relatives of the family. The funeral of Police Officsr D. D. Sullivan was held Friday of last week from the family residence, 403 Garden avenue. Rev. Father Callahan officiated offici-ated at the services held in Sacred Heart church at 2:30 o'clock. This was one of the largest funerals seen in this city in several years. A delegation from the police force and also from the fire department of the city attended as a body guard and gave the funeral an official appearance. As the cortege left the residence, the police and firemen preceded the hearse, which was followed by the pall-bearers. A patrol wagon and hose cart, heavily draped in black, the horses1-with 'trappings 'trap-pings of crepe, were driven by a member mem-ber of each organization. Immediately following the carriage carrying the family of Mr. Sullivan were those of Mayor Mullins and the city council. The pail-bearers were fellow' officers In both the police and fire departments and included Police Officers Con Shove-lin. Shove-lin. Jerry Shea, M. D. Shea, William Tutz. with Fireman James Gleason and J. Shenick. Many beautiful and elaborate floral offerings were received by the family and carried to the cemetery in an open carriage. Among these was a large circle cir-cle with a star in the center and. bear ing the officer's number, "30." in immortelles', im-mortelles', from the police force. An immense harp made of chrysanthemums chrysanthe-mums was the gift of the city fire department de-partment and a beautiful crescent bore the card of the city council. As the funeral left the church it passed along Broadway and the bell on the city hall Tvas tolled as the cortege pass?d to th,e cemetery. It was an impressive funeral funer-al and all who witnessed it deemed it a fitting tribute. In life Officer Sullivan was respected as a man and an officer, and those who knew him sympathize with his family in this bereavement. The interment took place in the Catholic cemetery south of the city. 4 Mrs. M. J. Harrington died at her home, 1S3 East Center street, Monday evening at 9 o'clock. The deceased was 3! years old, was born in Hancock, Mich., a'nd has been a resident of Butte for the last eighteen years. She is survived sur-vived by a husband and three children, two daughters nd a son. Two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Ray and Mrs. James W. Rose, live in Butte, and two other sisters sis-ters have their homes in Eureka Tin-tic. Tin-tic. Utah. Word has been sent the sisters sis-ters in L'tah, and funeral arrangements arrange-ments will not be perfected until they j are heard from. ' |
