Show ZION CANYON MAY BE NATIONAL PARK The 1910 season for Zion canyon national na-tional monument will close November L according to D. S. Spencer, general passenger pas-senger agent of the Oregon Short Lino. It is planned to begin the 1920 season May 15. Mr. Spencer issued a letter yesterday calling the attention of officials and ticket agents to the possibilities for better bet-ter travel facilities in the canyon in the event that it is made a national park. "It may also be noted in connection with advanced planning for JE120 tourist travel that the bill making Zion canyon a national park has passed both branches of congress and only awaits the signature signa-ture of the president to become effective," effect-ive," the letter said. "The enactment of this law .will result in great good for Zion canyon, permitting, as it will, of larger appropriations for park improvements improve-ments than could be expected for a national na-tional monument, which will eventuate in making this one of the most accessible, as it is one of the most interesting and inspiring, of our great national playgrounds." |
