Sp?ucer, general passenger a.-ent of the Union Pacific system, jounced yesterday, following his return from the annual meeting of 31011 Pacific advertising agents at Qnjaha, November 2 to 19, inclusive. The .expenditure, which involves the nuance of 100,000 copies of high-class high-class booklets with colored illustrations illustra-tions of Utah's scenic attractions, is the largest amount ever allotted in tie Union Pacific advertising budget tor advertising southern Utah. Other advertising mediums to be u;ed will be display advertising in eastern and Pacific coast newspapers, ami in national magazines. Many illustrations il-lustrations will be used to portray tiie marvelous color effects of Bryce canyon and Zion national park. The Union Pacific press bureau, under the direction of Eyre Powell, also will furnish stories and picures for magazines maga-zines and newspapers on the state's , scenic attractions. Ready For Tourists The extensive advertising campaign is to follow the many improvements already made by the Union Pacific in (lie construction of El Escalante hotel at Cedar City and accomodations at Bryce canyon and Zion national park. Forty-two rustic cottages, accomodating accomodat-ing four people to the cottage, have been constructed at Bryce canyon, and fourty-two cottages of similar design are being constructed in the Zion national forest. Central pavilions pavil-ions also have been constructed at lyceand Zion, with large lobbies, dining rooms, kitchens and other equipment. More than 175 persons can be accommodated daily at both Bryce and Zion. Transportation facilities for the coming season will be greatly enlarged enlarg-ed and improved with the purchase by the Union Pacific of forty twelve-passenger twelve-passenger automobile busses. These busses are of the same type as ued in the Yellowstone and other national narks. Season Opens May 15 The Chicago & Northwestern-Union Pacific tourist department, under the direction of C. J. Collings, manager, plans on operating two personally conducted tours of Bryce canyon and Zion national park each week, in addition ad-dition to the tours of Yellowstone national park. The tourist season for the southern Utah attractions opens May 15 and closes October 10 in 192 5. A. V.
