The board of education signed the contract for the erection of the second unit of the South Washington school recently awarded to E. J. Isakson. At the meeting last week the contractor's con-tractor's bond was approved. The contract price for the construction o! the building is $107,000. Salt Loke. Washington, The senate public lands committee has reported favor ably Senator Smoot's bill converting Bryce canyon into a national park to be known as Utah National park. The bill contains a proviso authorizing the secretary of the interior to exchange private lands in the Bryce canyon area and in Zion National park for unappropriated public lands in equal value and approximately equal area elsewhere in Utah. - Provo, An organization to conduct the "better home" campaign which will be made during the period of May 11 and IS, was perfected at a meeting in the Frovo chamber of com. merce. Ogden, John A Sneddon of Ogden was appointed by the juvenile court commission as juvenile court judge .for the Second district. The -latter includes in-cludes Weber, Morgan and Davis counties. Judge Sneddon succeeds L. J. Hotter, who resigned February 25. He assumes his duties this week. Salt Lake, Governor Charles E-Mabey E-Mabey has appointed twenty-one Utah citizens to serve as a committee to take charge of the raising of a relief re-lief fund for the dependents of the 172 miners who lost their lives as result of the explosions at the Utah Fuel company's mine at Castlegate, March 8. Salt La!-?, Artists of Utah are to make an exhibit of their pictures in the restroom or lobby of the hall of the house of representatives in the capitol, which is now being cleaned and repainted so that the display of pictures may be placed on the walls. It is the intention of the artists it is said, to keep picjtures on display in this room, the custodian granting per-mission per-mission at all times.
