choosing books he might want on a particular subject mrs parsons has been I 1 branan for the past ten years and during that period has greatly enriched her life by reading many fine volumes of literature last year 27 books were bor rowed from the library which is a carnegie free public library op aerated under the carnale plan at present there are approximately books on regular cards and another being prepared the library receives 46 periodicals all the finest magazines in the united states and all the local tons lons t ons these papers and periodicals however are not loaned out but can be read any time in the lib local papers as far back as 1913 are on file and copies of the improvement era dated 1897 can be seen there the average monthly circulation of the library is 2000 books the operation of the library is planned by the library board con s sting of six members the tooele thoele fiction club donates a dozen books to the library every year from its 12 members these are the twelve books picked by the club as the finest of the year and are added to the fast growing number already on the cards besides these about 25 new books are bought every month while donations from individuals and civic organizations go into the memorial shelf which now con bains volumes four new books were recently received from the carnegie peace foundation and a complete I 1 arary of scribner planned for a future date according to mrs parsons the youngsters be have well and parents who realize the value of good reading are arg ing their young people to take out library cards new brides is needed she says the local lions club is planning to renovate the building soon re painting remodeling and improve ments of a similar nature will be done last february a fire auckly luc kly discovered by mrs parsons when she opened the library at 6 30 p in threatened to make ashes of many precious volumes but it was put out by the fire department before it hardly got started people come into the library for everything said mrs parsons re lating one strange event A man came in once looking for the 2nd book of revelations which I 1 said I 1 believed did not exist when I 1 asked him who told him it did exist he replied that it was his father and his father he said was god As he left I 1 d d not know whether to believe him or not nor did I 1 know who felt more foolish me or the man
