Hyrum has been able to keep the streets open and according to county commissioner Leo C. Elton Olsen, city road commissioner, commission-er, has kept every street in town open anditravelable all duringxthe storms. The storms have caused trouble in some parts of the valley. The road to Paradise and Avon .was opened Sunday, it had been travelable to teams and sleighs only until that time. Petersbcurough and Mendon were completely snow-bound until early this week, people who needed supplies or had to get to town, made the trip on skiis or snow shoes. School busses resumed their regular reg-ular schedules Monday . morning, last Friday only one of the four busses arrived at the South Cache high school. The children enjoyed their unexpected vacation. The Utah Power and Light Co., have about 20 men working to replace the 400 feet of pipe that was damaged during the recent storms. There were four . snow slides reported during the latter part of last week, between the Utah Power plant and dam, these slides carried with them everything in their way, including the huge 6 foot pipe, along the south side of the canyon, it covered the road with about 14 feet of snow at Crafts hollow, but CCC caterpillars caterpil-lars with snow ploughs attached soon made the road passable. Frank Dusenberry who has charge of the work that is being done on the pipe said that about three weeks time would be required re-quired to repace the damages, if .the weather is good. Roads that were blocked for days .during last week and even the first days of this week have been opened open-ed and transportation is being resumed as before. |
