Show COMPETITION If Is as vital for communities to compete as it is for businesses or for individuals . To be abl e to do a good job of competing you must be well organized and well advertised. It would be hard to conceive of a large manufacturer who would produce and sell a product without being well organized, or-ganized, nor without doing a very good job of advertising. ad-vertising. Because of this, the first thing the citizens of Duchesne must do is to get better organized and to get more of the public involved if we are ever to succeed in sell ing our community to others. One man from a neighboring town said to me recently, "One of the things we can count on the most is that Duchesne will be divided enough on nearl y any issue that it will never be a serious competitor!1 Many times leadership, money, and time are wasted in attempting to carry out too many projects and in going in too many directions. What is needed, after a good organization job is done, is to have proper discussion and evaluation so that the maximum efforf can be put on a few projects, and so that they can be accomplished instead of merely being started. Any time a common objective can be accomplished accomp-lished by cooperating with another town, then we have an obi igation to cooperate, but whenever cooperation co-operation may be detrimental to Duchesne, we have the same obi igation to object. THERE IS NO GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT WITHOUT A CAUSE, EITHER JUST OR UNJUST. |
