I Springville's Red Devils, at the top of the Nebo division heap, are not taking Monday night's fracas with the Ncphi Rangers lightly, despite de-spite the fact that Ncphi was defeated de-feated by the weak Tintic Miners last week. Coach Monte Groesbeck's Rangers Rang-ers have a disturbing .habit of staging upsets at the expense of leading teams, and the year 1930 is no exception. The rangers turned on Spanish Fork Tuesday night to hand the Bectdiggers a 39-32 thumping. After the Tintic-Nephi fracas, Spanish Fork was expected to down the Rangers handily, but Ncphi clung tenaciously at the Porkers' heels, and then pulled away in the final quarter of tha game. In consequence, the Rangers are jubilant, and arc hopeful of staging stag-ing an ujf set Friday night at the expense of the Red Devils. Pulley. Mrs. Burton Groesbeck was hostess host-ess to the members of the Ladles Literary club Saturday afternoon. A delicious luncheon was served, at 2:30 o'clock after which short stories by French authors were given in an especially interesting manner by Mrs. Grant Crandall i and Mrs.T. E. Crandall. Mrss ijOia ! Bradford of the Spanish Fork high school faculty entertained with piano selections. Mrs. Frank Salisbury Salis-bury presided and the following members were present: Mrs. George Straw, Mrs. Jesse Dalton, Mrs. Clara Sumsion, Mrs. Helen Crandall, Mrs. Grant Crandall, Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion, Mrs. C. G. Sails- , bury, Mrs. Catherine Salisbury, Mrs. Marilla Brown, Mrs. Margaret Grooms. Mrs. Glenn Woodmansee was hostess to the ladies of the Horn; Culture club at her home Friday afternoon. A nicely arranged program pro-gram was given with musical numbers num-bers furnished by boys from the high school with their clarinets and Mrs. Ida Duscnberry gave an especially interesting talk on "Child Psychology". Following the program pro-gram a dainty and tasty lunch was served by the hostess to about 3i members present. Honoring Mrs. Arthur Condie who has worked in the capacity of first counselor to the president of the Third ward M. I. A., a nicely arranged party was given by the officers and teachers of that organization or-ganization Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Salisbury. Salis-bury. Progressive games furnished pleasant entertainment and after these a delicious lunch was served. About fifty officers and teachers were present to enjoy the affair. |
