Complimentary to her son Paul, whose seventh birthday anniversary annivers-ary occurred Saturday Mrs. Arthur Finley entertained a number of little lit-tle school friends and relatives at their home in the afternoon. Games were features of entertainment and I following these a dainty lunch was served to all present. In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Condie, the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Packard of this city gave a family dinner at their home Friday evening. Music and social chat were other diversions of the affair and those present included Mr. and Mrs. Earl Condie and family and immediate members of the Packard family. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Crawford entertained en-tertained .at their home in Provp Wednesday evening for the J. R. club members. An enjoyaH tinv: was spent playing three tables of progressive "500". Mrs. Floyd Hitchcock Hitch-cock of Provo and Erie Borman of Springville won high score prizes. A delicious luncheon was served to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hitchcock, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Street, of Provo, and from Springville Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Lyall, Mr. and Mrs. Erie 1 Borman, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Urqu-hart, Urqu-hart, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter For-sythe. Members of the Social Twelvo Card club and a few invited friends were delightfully entertained Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Arthur Finley. Snapdragons and hyacinths were used to decorate- the entertaining rooms. Three tables of progressive auction bridge were played and during the games Mrs. Manilla Brown was awarded high score favor. A tasty luncheon was served by the hostess to the following ladies present: Mrs. Emma Kennedy, Mrs. Ora Rowland, Row-land, Mrs. Hazel Harrison, Mrs. Bert West, Mrs. Gwen Baxter, Mrs. Mclba Pennington, Mrs. Emma Rowland, Mrs. Gertrude Sumsion, Mrs. Ella Crandall, Mrs. Lois Clcgg, Mrs. Bernice Hutchin son, and Mrs. Manilla Brown. Miss Jessee Packard and Arthur Condie were married in the Salt Lake temple Thursday January 23. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Condie accompanied accom-panied them to the city. Before returning re-turning to Springville the young couple visited with relatives in Magna They expect to leave some time this week for Seattle, Washington Wash-ington to make their home. One of the most successful and entertaining parties of the week was given Wednesday evening when the ladies of the Alpha Beta club of this city entertained at a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mendenhall complimentary to their husbands. Potted plants and ferns formed attractive decorations dec-orations for the spacious entertaining entertain-ing rooms. In the early evening a delicious chicken dinner was served i following which progressive games were featured. A program of music and general sociability were enjoyed during the evening and prizes were "won by Charles Boyer and Kenneth Condie. Those present included the following members and guests: Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Brinton, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Packard, Pack-ard, Dr. and Mrs. George A. Anderson An-derson Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Straw, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. Will Witney, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Condie, Mr. and Mrs. John Childs, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. E. E. Knudsen, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Whitman. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Crandall, Mrs. Mary Oakcs, Mrs. Zclla Argylc, Mrs. Ella Clyde and Mrs. Gertrude Hanford. Mrs. Joseph Wing of this city was hostess last Tuesday to the ladies of the Kensington club of Springvillc Community church. All members present enjoyed the afternoon after-noon with sewing and social chat. A delicious luncheon was served in conclusion by the hostess. Mrs. G. S. Condie who has spent the past three months with her daughter Mrs. Melba Osmond in Washington, D. C. will return to her home in this city Sunday, Jan. 26 according to word received by relatives here. The birthday anniversary of G. W. Mendenhall was celebrated at his home Sunday with all family members present except their sou Deal and family of Canada. An especially enjoyable day was spent. A nicely arranged birthday dinner social chat and music were the principal diversions of the day. Children and their families present pres-ent were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mendenhall, Mr. and M,rs. Arvil Child, of American Fork, Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall and tho i Misses Alberta, Almina and Ruth Mendenhall. The dance following the game between be-tween Provo and Springvillc Friday Fri-day evening in the high school gym was greatly enjoyed by a large crowd of young folks from this city and surrounding community. Mrs. Harriet Davis and Mrs. Emma Lee left during the past week for a several months vacation vaca-tion in California. Complimentary to her husband and to Mrs. Fred Hansen whose birthday anniversaries occur the ! same day Mrs. Floyd Miner cnter- , taincd at a nicely arranged birthday birth-day dinner at their home Sunday. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hansen and daughter Lois, Mrs. Lydia Palfreyman and Mr. i and Mrs. Floyd Miner and members of their immediate families. Mrs. Frank Brown wvjl be hostess , to the ladies of the N. I. P. club at her home in Provo net Saturday evening. All are invited to be pres-Jent. |
