On Friday the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass was offered in St. Benedict's Catholic Mission chapel, and the discourse dis-course delivered by Rev. Father Edmund Ed-mund bearing on the feast of the day ' was very beautiful and touching. Dur-i Dur-i ing divine service pretty hymns were : rendered by the choir under the direc-j direc-j tion. of Mrs. Thomas Carmody. Alter i Mass Mr. and Mrs. Moran entertained at dinner the Rev. -Pastor E. J. Cotle I and others at their pretty and cosy home on Frazier Lane. A little baby boy has ccme to brighten the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fox. Mrs. Alva Kountz went to Denver a few days ago. where she ia undergoing a treatment for her eyes. ? . . . Mrs. M. F. Fleming intends to leave for Mexico about the first of the year in ! the interests of health, Where she will j sojourn with relatives at Monterey till about May next - I The Western Oil company is placing a dynamo in its refinery in order to fur- I nish .its own lights instead of getting the electrical current from the. Arkansas Arkan-sas Valley Electrical Plant. I The Catholics here are going to have I a resident pastor at last. Rev. Father Edmund of the order of St. Benedict, I who has been ministering to the spirit-1 spirit-1 ual and temporal wants of his congregation congre-gation for almost a year, has decided to give up his quarters at Canon City to take up his permanent abode In the midst of his people arr Florence. Welcome, Wel-come, Reverend Pastor, and may your sojourn among us be a happy one. On Friday, Dec. 15, an entertainment will be given at the home of Mr and Mrs. Thomas Carmody by the members of the Sunday school society, headed by the Misses Maud Carmody and Anna La Plant.. This entertainment is being given with a view' to acquiring the necessary funds to complete payment on the Sanctuary lamp. May the noble little enterprise be a grand success. |
