Last week mention vas made in the lntermountain lntermoun-tain Catholic of the death of the Rev, Father J. J. Cummings. His demise was a very sad blow to his many faithful faith-ful follower, friends and admirers. He was only 32-years of age. Father Cummingsi was well known and beloved not alone In Catholic Church circles, but by all with whom his kind, genial nature came in contact. con-tact. 4 He was a scholar, a thinker and a preacher, but above all, his abounding abound-ing good nature and affectionate loyalty loy-alty won Mm hosts of friends everywhere. every-where. Fathers Phillips and Casey were sent by Bishop Matz to bring the body to Denver, where solemn ceremonies ceremo-nies were held at the Cathedral. It ia probable that the remains will be sent to New Jersey for burial by the side of the brother of the dead priest, who was also a brother of the Church. ' Father Cummings had been in delicate deli-cate health for years, and it was for that reason that he was ' obliged to . study at the. University of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where' he graduated with the highest honors. |
