Show grazing app appeals cals heard by board 0 stockmen Stoc kmen appear bufore taylor act advisors to request adjustments moab times independent more than 50 stockmen stoc kmen mho aho use the ranges of utah glazing district no 6 appeared lefore the taylor act advisory board tuesday and wednesday to file P protests ro against actions of the hoard last month in passing on applications the board remained in session until nearly midnight on i wednesday to complete its work in addition to heating appeal ap peas the board considered several mat 1 j dealing with range adminis in the district presenta present Presen tl at the meeting were roy D aiken of dolores J M bailey and claud L young of monticello J E i son of blanding G A harris of elgin charles kedd of la sal and A M robertson george W johnson R L kirk jr D L i 1 goudelock Goud clock george 0 patterson J A and L L taylor of moab graz er boyd S ham t mond and ray V redd represented the division of grazing i several of the appeals were somewhat extended and considerable evidence was heard i the board voted to approve a proposed new extension to arches national monument TYs new area lies between courthouse wash bridge and the moab canyon dugway and is north of highway no comprising approximately 1100 acres with this new area the arches monument will extend from the devils garden southward to the moab highway 1 making it possible for the park service to construct a highway ir into 1 the monument by way of i courthouse Court hoase towers the board had been advised that with this new extension proclamation will be issued by the president designating this enlarged area little or no grazing land is involved in the new extension the board took action looking to the expenditure of 50 per cent of the grazing fees collected in the district since the inc inception eplion of the taylor taylor act which fees have accumulated to the credit of the district in the office of the state au auditor aitor the board has a balance now of which must be extended under the direction of the hoard board for range improvement it was decided that 75 per cent of the funds be used in cooperation with the camps and division of grazing and that each unit in the district receive its proportionate share according to the fees paid by the stockmen stoc kmen of that unit charles redd was elected treasurer of the board |
