sunday when close to a hundred visitors from other southern part of the state were entertained by the moab lions club the program consisted of an afternoon meeting saturday at aj which many important matters affecting the development of southern utah were and dance and a trip sunday morning to dead horse point on the big flats overlooking the grand canyon of the colorado river the moab meeting was pro discussed an evening banquet bounced by officers of the association as one of the most enjoyable and successful ever held president james M sargent ot of panguitch presided at the directors meeting saturday afternoon in the high school auditorium A feature of this meeting was an address by jesse L nusbaum superintendent perin of mesa verde national park who discussed the scenic attractions of the moab area superintendent nusbaum asserted that the area from moab south along the colorado river is unquestionably the most scenic in the west it ignot is not the desire or the intention of the park service he stated to press for the designation of this area as a national monument or park and the wishes of the state of utah will be respected in the matter of creating the proposed escalante monument superintendent nusbaum showed that the development of the scenic resources constitutes utes the greatest asset in the colorado river district and he predicted that within a
