Beckstead teaches 1st grade "GOLDEN PASSPORT" NOW ON SALE New $7.00 federal "Golden Passport" is now on sale at all Ashley National Forest offices, stated A. R. McConkie, forest supervisor. This is the 1966 Federal recreation permit. The wallet-size wallet-size card was designated a j "Golden Passport" because of its gold color and the large number num-ber of federal recreation areas - 7,000 - it entitles the purchaser and everyone in his car to enter. This year the Forest Service will issue three types of permits, per-mits, according to Mr. McConkie. McCon-kie. One will be the $7. 00 annual permit. Then there will be a single visit permit which will cost $1. 00 for the vehicle, including all occupants. The third type of permit will be the boat launching fee at Cedar Springs Boat Ramp, his fee will be 50t per day, the same as last year. There will be no 30-day permits issued by the Forest Service this year. The "Golden Passport", or the other fees, are required for use of campgrounds or boat ramps except during the designated desig-nated season which for the Ashley National Forest is June 16-September 15. Even then, permits will not be required re-quired at all sites. Those campgrounds requiring permits are Spirit Lake, Deep Creek, Greens Lake, Skull Creek, Greendale, Deer Runs, Cedar Springs, Dripping Springs, Little Hole, Red Springs, Uinta Canyon, River View, Reservoir, Bridge, Yellowstone, Moon Lake, Iron Mine, Hades Canyon, Castle Cliffs, and Aspen Grove. A charge for reservations will be made at Uinta River picnic ground. Receipts from the sale of recreation permits and certain other revenues, goes into the land and water conservation fund. Appropriations from the fund assist states and their local governments in meeting urgent outdoor recreation needs. These monies are also used to purchase additional federal areas for recreation purposes. Permits are sold at National Parks and Monuments, National Forest offices, Wildlife Refuges, Corps of Engineers Areas, Tennessee Valley Authority, Bureau of Sports, Fisheries and Wildlife and the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. They may be sold also by certain AAA offices and some sporting goods stores. 1 |
