MYTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HOSTS PTA MEETING Reports from the PTA locals of the Duchesne Area PTA count cil comprised the main agenda items of the Council meeting held Monday night at the Myton Elementary School. Mrs. Colleen Mantyla, Roosevelt, Roo-sevelt, Council president, conducted con-ducted the meeting, and installed install-ed the new officers - Elden R. Wilcken, Duchesne, president; Mrs. Bernis (Sylvia) Bristol, Bluebell (Altamont local), vice president; Mrs. Elden R. (Goldie (Gold-ie G. ) Wilcken, Duchesne, sec- retary-treasurer. The officers1 terms are for two years. Mr. Wilcken is the incumbent incum-bent vice president; and Mrs. Marilyn Peterson, Roosevelt, is the secretary-treasurer who has served the Council the past two years, as has Mrs. Mantyla whose term ended with the installation in-stallation of the new officers Monday. Mrs. Max (Maxine) Gentry, Vernal, the regional president , of the PTA, was unable to attend the meeting, due to medical attention she is receiving on the West Coast. Musical numbers were performed per-formed at this end-of-the-term and meeting. "The Bridge Builder" was the trio song sang by Julie, Charlotte and Irene Dennis, accompanied at the piano by their mother, Mrs. Syrel Dennis. "Tumbling TrunH" at the piano by Mrs. Dennis. Local PTA units represented at the meeting were Altamont, Duchesne, Myton, Neola and Roosevelt. Union High School and the Tabiona local were not represented. , Announcement of the annua J convention of the Utah Congress of the PTA was made by Mrs. Mantyla at this meeting. The convention will be held at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City on May 4-5. PTA local presidents have forms to fill out for the delegates to submit to the credentials committee. Some 14,000 women died of cancer of the uterus last year. Nearly all the deaths could have been avoided if the women had had an annual "Pap" test by a physician, according to the American Amer-ican Cancer Society. |
