Show CHRISTIAN SCIENCE The golden text for the lesson-sermon, lesson-sermon, "Jesus Christ," at all authorized Christian Science churches on Sunday, Feb. 27, is from Isaiah. It reads, "There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of its roots." Another significant Biblical citation reads, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, that, "We are sometimes led to believe that a darkness is as real as light; but Science affirms darkness to be only a mortal sense of the absence ab-sence of light, at the coming of which darkness loses the appearance appear-ance of reality. So sin and sorrow, sor-row, disease and death, are the suppositional absence of Life, God, and flee as phantoms of error before truth and love." |
