Show Park City IVEne Tunnel Neare Its Objective 's 4 , i r - 3 ' i I After nearly two years, Newmont project at East Utah is I nearing completion. I Nearing its objective after nearly two years of development is the Cunningham tunnel being driven on the East Utah property, situated in the eastern end of the Park City region. Tlie tunnel has been driven a distance dis-tance of over 4300 feet under the most trying conditions. The first 2500 feet wa3 driven in loose rock formation which required spilling and timbering the entire distance. Cost of the work has been virtually dougle the original estimate of $150,000. Objective of the tunnel is a fissured zone which is ex pected to be t.. countered at 4500 feet from the portal of the tunnel. The big question in the minds of those patiently pushing the worl; is "will it be there." The it, of course, being ore. This development is being financed finan-ced by the Newmont Mining Company, Com-pany, and is indicative of the work necessary to find out if the ore ia there or not. Such gambles are not in the realm of possibility for the small inadequately financed company, com-pany, and encouragement should be given to the larger companies that develop Utah's resources. |
