Show Richard Ingebretsen, president of the Glen Canyon Institute and a Sierra Club member confirms the quote for me. Incidentally, the Roget's definition of “advocate” is: "To aid the cause of by approving or favoring." The definition for “support” is...guess what... "To aid the cause of by approving or favoring.” Only YOU Gordon, could find something sinister in a synonym. Also, you state that I changed the wording to *‘give the false impression that the national Sierra Club board had formally called for a media campaign.” Please read the Utah Chapter’s OWN great plains when I think about it. So good luck and God bless to all those folks who are determined to turn Moab into a place much like the utopia they left behind. Steve Burt aka Buffalo Burt Gillette, Wyoming MORE Jim- QUOTES FROM THE BIBLE? Maybe you remember me. I hope you are still riding the bike that I gave to you. You've resolution of September 18, 1997. It begins: “Whereas the Executive Committee of the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club is concerned about the timing of the national Sierra Club’s Lake Powell probably already seen this bit of Biblical text that is the last quoted verse on one of the media campaign..." Moab web pages. I think it is rather appropriate and thought you would appreciate it: What else needs to be said? : I will indeed print your letter in its entirety in the next issue along with the information that I just provided you. In fact, I'll be delighted. I am extremely flattered that, out of a 5400 word article, you could only find one WORD to dispute, and that in the end, you were wrong about that as well. Happy Trails, Jim Stiles Zeph. 2:9 "Therefore, as surely as I live,” declares the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, “surely Moab will become like Sodom, the Ammonites like Gomorrah-—a place of weeds and salt pits, a wasteland forever. The remnant of my people will plunder them; the survivors of my nation will inherit their land." One question...who would want to inherit salt pits and a forever wasteland? Look out for gravity, ON THE OTHER HAND... Go Stiles go, go Stiles go! It takes huevos rancheros to print your competitors‘critical opinion, Anthony Quintile June-July 2000 "Pointblank: dishonest, inaccurate, and downright shameful." You displayed a sense of openmindedness, honesty and trust. Having the support of a major organization, like the Sierra Club, behind the idea of decommisioning Glen Canyon dam will only prove (formerly of Poison Spider Bike Shop) What IS the deal with all these Biblical quotes? And yes...I still ride my beautiful Schwinn Classic, but never in Grand County...JS beneficial. By criticizing the Sierra Club from within, the Utah Chapter is undermining the popularization of the deconstruction idea. Unanimous support is a necessity. Sincerely, Kurt Herman Mormon Lake, AZ WHAT’S Editor, GOOD FOR DR. LAURA... I am writing in response to Dennis Boarts’s letter published in the June-July 2000 Zephyr Feedback in which he informs us that the Holy Scriptures condemn homosexuality. While I don’t share his view I am struck by the fact that Mr. Boarts is obviously something of an expert on the Holy Scriptures and no doubt he patterns his life on its precepts. So perhaps he can offer some advice on certain other sections of the Holy Scriptures that may be troubling your readers. I recently came across the following letter which contains a number of timely questions on the Holy Scriptures and was sent in response to a claim by . the radio therapist Dr. Laura Schesinger that homosexuality is an abomination because it’s against the Bible... "Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination..... End of debate! I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of specific law and how to best follow them as a true believer. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this? I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? I know now that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. Lev. 25:44 states thatI may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify? I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself? A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Lev. 20:20 states thatI may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear prescription glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here? I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident that you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging." Sincerely, Ken Danko San Francisco, CA EROSION TODAY...CONTINENTAL DRIFT TOMORROW? S.U.W.A. I am quite disturbed that there has been no mention of a group of activists who when I left 4 or 5 years ago, (time being irrelative} were very much against erosion in the Moab area. I was very interested at the time in their suggestions at how erosion could be limited or even stopped in the area. I remember that the elimination of mountain biking was high on their list. Anyone in Moab only needs to look around to see the terrible toll erosion has taken on the area. agree it must be stopped. And when they’ve gotten the erosion problem under control in Moab, Id like to suggest another problem that needs. the attention of people who really care—that pesky continental drift. How can children feel safe in their own beds with the continents drifting around untethered? This should especially concern people who live on the coast, where I believe most anti-erosionists came to Moab from. What would happen if two or more continents collided? It’s an accident just waiting to happen.
