Gerald Lynch, administrator, will be the main celebrant. Students will be presented for gradution by Sr. Marian Bauer, Deena Hamilton, Gwyther, Kevin Hazuka, Rise Karcich, Muffet Lee, Lisa Morgan, Shawn Olsen, David Rogers, Shelie Sanich, Cathy Sisneros, Dennis Slavensky and Laura Wheatley. , principal. Mountain View Cemetery in Helper Monday in honor of those who died in defense of the country. Memorial services were conducted by St. Anthony's Catholic Church at the cemetery also. Other services were held in the county and a page of photographs will be featured in the Friday edition of the Sun Advocate. County natives retire from Reno BLM Bill Malencik and Ed Evatz, both natives of Carbon County, retired recently from federal service. Both men were employed by the U.S. Department of tiie Interiors Bureau of Land Management in Reno. Bill Malencik, who was bom in Helper and who attended elementary and high school at Price, retired Apr. 3 after 36 years of service with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Malencik began his career in Meeker in June of. 1949. He subsequently worked in Craig and Durango as a range manager. In 1954 he became Durangos district manager, and in 1957 was manager in Craig. Malencik moved to Reno in 1961 to the Division of Resources. He headed the Nevada BLMs first planning effort. In 1972 lie became chief of Technical forerunner of the the BLM Range Program, then moved to Reno, Nev. in 1974 to accept the Resources Chief position. D.C. with Division of Operations from which he retired as deputy state director. Malencik was honored in 1983 with the Interior Departments Meritorious Service Award. Although Malencik will maintain his home in Reno, he plans frequent trips to Utah, where his mother lives. Malencik has visited in Carbon County frequently through the years and often returned to assist with work in the family orchard. Ed Evatz, who retired Jan. 3 as deputy state director for resources in Nevada also attended Price schools, he was bom in Spring Canyon and married his wife, Elinor, in Helper in 1958. His federal career began with his employment as a smokejumper by the Forest Service upon gradution from college. His BLM career began in 1954 as a forester in Oregon. He later transferred to Craig, Denver and Durango, Colo. In 1965 he accepted appointment as center director for the Job Corps Program in Denver. He was in administrative positions in that program for three years then returned to BLM in 1968 as assistant to the Idaho State Director. He was in Washington, thank all of our friends, neighbors and family for the lovely cards of sympathy, food, flowers money and the many acts of kindness expressed to us during the illness and loss of our mother and grandmother.
