Show Wednesday, May 29, 1985 26 Sun Advocate, Price, Utah 3A warrants issued ' Emery Co. deputies arrest Emery County deputies were busy Tuesday issuing some 26 arrest warrents to residents suspected in illegal narcotics sales and distribution. The undercover operation was a joint venture, combining the Sheriffs Emery County Department and the Utah Narcotics and Liquor Enforcement Bureau. The warrents culminate seven months of investigation which also included Carbon County. According to Sheriff Lamar Guymon, 32 complaints resulted from the local investigation while 42 warrents and 62 complaints were handled in Carbon County. Arrests in both counties began Tuesday morning. Bill Riggs, supervisor of the Is multi-agenc- Utah southern region of the Narcotics Bureau, said that all warrants for Emery County were for distribution of controlled substances, namely cocaine andor marijuana. He added that the investigation involved the entire county with warrants issued for residents in most areas although Green River was not involved. He said the Emery County investigation was coordinated with investigations in Carbon and Grand counties. Sheriff Guymon said that the investigation involved the use of an undercover employee who allegedly made drug purchases in die county. He said the 26 warrents represent the largest bust in recent years. According to Riggs, drug purchases ranged from a quarter of an ounce of marijuana to $400 in cocaine. Although he added that such buys are not considered to be big, he said that the state has had much success in getting convictions on the sale of lesser amounts of illegal drugs, especially in rural areas. Arrests were expected to continue throughout the day in Emery County, but by 2 p.m. Tuesday, 11 suspects had been booked into the county detention center. They are expected to face arraignment Thursday in the Eleventh Circuit Court in Castle Dale. Huntington, arranging for distribution of a controlled substance for value; David R.
