When the scnato Lexow investigating committee reconvened recon-vened yesterday, the taking of testimony testi-mony as to Irregularities In connection with tho city boiler Inspector's office ras resumed. A number of witnesses ivero examined, and their testimony til went to show that money had bocn paid tho board of examiners for engineers' en-gineers' licenses. Tbo most sensational sensa-tional testimony offered was that of Charles Hearing, an engineer, who said he paid II. II. Philper, a member of the board of examiners, 850 for an engineer's en-gineer's license. He said he secured tho license without an examination, and that Holler Inspector Price was present when the deal was made. Wilson Muchler, another witness, testified that he had paid Philper S3 for an engineer's license. Another witness, Julius Boehmcr, testified that a number of men known to him secured engineer licenses by paying the examining board for them. |
