Show COST OF GOVERNMENT. January statement Show Kxpendlture of 1101,207,000. Washington, Fob. 2. The forthcoming forthcom-ing report of tho government receipts and expenditures for January will show the receipts to havo been about 941,775,000 and tho expenditures about 851,207,OQO, leaving a deficit of about 89,500,000 for tho month. Tho customs receipts, it will be shown, wero nearly 818,000,000, tho largest for the month of January slnco 1803, and an Increase of about 81,250,-000 81,250,-000 over December. The internal revonuo receipts for January will bo approximately 821,000,-000, 821,000,-000, a slight decreaso from December, but an increase over January, 1808, of over 88,500,000. Tho expenditures on account of tho war and navy departments depart-ments during January will be shown to be about 823,850,000, an increase over December of about 81,300,000. |
