Show SOCIETY NEVS A number of relatives and fiiends were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Nelson Beal at luncheon Sunday afternoon following a visit to the art gallery. They were Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Dorius of Sandy, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winn of Nephi, Mrs. D. G. Edmunds, Mrs. Lew Mumford and son David, Mrs. Eva Cluff, Dr. Byron Rees, Afton and Ralph Rees, Mr. and Mrs; Spencer Reid and children Beal, Richard and Marylin, Professor Pro-fessor Don Rees of the University of Utah and Mrs. Rees, Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christensen of Springville. A talk on pictures in the high school art exhibit by J. F. Win-gate, Win-gate, featured a meeting of the Ladies' Literary club, Tuesday night. Following the talk which was especially interesting to all, the group assembled at the home of Mrs. Birdella Bearnson, where a tasty luuncheon was served at small tables. Spring flowers and dainty Easter motifs added to the tables decorations. Nineteen Nine-teen members and guests attended, the latter including Mr. and Mrs. Wingate, Mrs. C. A. Larson of Provo, Mrs. William Jarvis of Spanish Fork and Mrs. J. O. Reynolds. Mrs. Adah J. Nelson of this city announces the engagement of her daughter Miss Inez Jessee, to Newton H. McDowell of Provo, the marriage to take place May 2, in the Salt Lake temple. The Mothers' club of Salt Lake City visited the high school art gallery Wednesday afternoon. Following Fol-lowing their visit they were served lunch by the ladies of the Community Com-munity church. Dougall following a visit to' the art gallery Sunday. Mrs. Mae Child gave a party at her home last Saturday afternoon for her daughter Mareen who is ten years old. Twenty little school friends enjoyed the time with music, games and a lunch. , The Jovalty club meeting scheduled sched-uled for this week is postponed one week, Miss Luel Straw announces. an-nounces. Complimentary to Mrs. Grant Huff, formerly Miss Ruth Johnson, John-son, Mrs. Albert S. Hutchings entertained en-tertained at a miscellaneous shower show-er at the home of Mrs. Mary Witney, Wit-ney, Saturday evening. A program, pro-gram, games and dainty lunch were enjoyed by more than 30 relatives and friends, who presented present-ed the guest of honor with lovely gifts during the evening. Daughters of Pioneers, Camp Aaron Johnson were entertained at the home of Mrs. Nellie Straw last Thursday afternoon. Assist-' ing hostesses were Mrs. Flora Mc-Kenzie, Mc-Kenzie, Mrs. Sadie Packard, Mrs. Minette Bird, Mrs. Ella Crandall, and Mrs. Mary Metcalf. An interesting inter-esting lesson on Johnson's army was given by Mrs. Mary J. Finley. Mrs. Ella Cragun of ' Pleasant Grove, also gave the history of her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth B. Mower, and lArs. Eliza Packard Taylor, spoke on favorite songs of Mrs. Mower. Mrs. Mary Witney gave a piano solo, and camp songs were sung. The prayer was by Chaplain Myrtle Harrison. Refreshments Re-freshments were served in conclusion. Mrs. G. W. Mendenhall was hostess to the Alpha Beta club at her home Friday afternoon. A review re-view of opera in America was given by Clair Johnson, high school music supervisor. He also reviewed the opera "Salome" by Richard Strauss, which he had seen in Germany. Records from the opera also were enjoyed. At the close of the meeting refreshments refresh-ments were served to eighteen members and guests. Mrs. D. P. Brinton, a former member, who has been visiting in California and the east was In attendance in addition addi-tion to Mrs. Bess Mendenhall and Mrs. Odessa Childs. Reynolds, Miss Helen Reynolds, Miss Josephine Reynolds Reyn-olds and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Reynolds have returned from an enjoyable three weeks' trip to the Hawaiian islands. Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
