Show New degree at S I Brent Edmund r Contributing Writer After three years of f development an AAS degree in Production Production Production tion Management is currently awaiting final approval by the Utah State Board of Regents According to BI Blair ir director of Continuing and Community Com Corn Education many businesses have requested request d the development of this program due to the lack of formal schooling schooling school school- ing of most production supervisors One phase of the development involved establishing linkages with professional organizations in this field including American Production Inventory Control Society and American Society of Quality Co Control In addition student chapters of these organizations are re being developed Another phase is planned to ultimately tie this degree in with witha a BIS Bachelor of Integrated Studies available at Weber State College With this program a student chooses three areas of emphasis and the Production Manag Management ment program could be one of these areas As a component of the degree a student would receive instruction in inventory and material management management management manage manage- ment quality assurance and statistics Some of the key players associated with this development have been John Anjewierden former division chair of df Business and Industry Boyd Warnick current division chair of Business Systems and Kim Richardson faculty specialist in Production Management The Job outlook in this area appears very promising said Opportunities exist in material planning plant layout assistants assistants assistants as as- and quality control technicians and assistants |
