J Milligans Milligan's letter to the editor in the Jan 16 issue of the Horizon Mr Milligan addressed in general terms an issue which I suspect s has long troubled many students faculty and staff My specific complaint is the profound lack of social graces courtesy and general consideration toward fellow human beings demonstrated by some members of the school basketball team During the past four months I have witnessed many instances of abuse intimidation intimidation in in- and coercion perpetrated perpetrated perpetrated per per- upon students and staff by some team members One specific incident occurred occurred oc oc- in the presence of one member of the coaching staff who chose not to intervene I therefore applaud the recent resignations within the athletic department in hopes that the program willbe will willbe willbe be turned over to a staff who subscribes s to toa a philosophy of education which goes beyond basketball and includes includes includes in in- accountability for actions actions actions ac ac- ac- ac both on and off the court Im I'm tired of the outright rude demeanor of some team members and what appears to me to be a let them slide so long as they win attitude of some members of the athletic athletic athletic ath ath- letic department It Its It's s high time for a change Signed Paulus A.
