Show SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE AT T UNIVERSITY Several scholarships, varying in amount from the entrance fee of fifty dollars to a cash scholarship of one hundred dollars, arc available avail-able to needy and worthy students of the Brigham Young university, according to H. V. Holt, chr.irmnn of the committee on student aid and employment of the university. .The awards, according to Dan Hoyt are unique in that they are not plnced on a competitive basis, which often eliminates the really worthy student,' because he has not had the opportunity in his life which would enable him successfully to compete with more fortunate students. Among the scholarships and loan funds of the university are the folliwing : . Whitmore Scholarship An annual annu-al scholarship of $100.00 to some worthy student selected by the College Col-lege of Commerce faculty. Given by G. M. Whitmore for the First National Bank of.XephL McDonald Scholarship J. G. McDonald Mc-Donald gives an annual scholarship of $100.00 to some worthy student selected by the College of Commerce faculty. Firmnge Scholarship This scholarship schol-arship is given by J. L. Firniage of the Firmage Chain of J. C. Penney Stores and ' manager of the J. C. Penney store of American Fork. This scholarship consists of $100.00 to be given to some worthy' student selected by the College of Commerce Com-merce faculty. Maria Y. Dougal Scholarship A scholarship for girls, representing the annual entrance fee. : Eliza W. Woolacott Scholarship A scholarship for girls, rereseuting the annual entrance fee. Student Laon Funds The following loan funds are available for students who find it necessary to have temporary financial finan-cial assistance while, attending the Brigham Young university. These funds are under the supervision of the Doans' Council. Harmon Foundation Loan Fund This fund is furnished by the Har-1 Har-1 mon Foundation of New York, and is available to Juniors and Seniors, desiring to borrow not to exceed $250.00 on their individual notes. These loans are to be paid back beginning be-ginning one year after the student leaves scbool.' In addition there nre the Emillne B. Wells relief society loan fund and the student loan fund.. |
