Show THE CITY COUNCIL Tlic Petitions Reports and ltIis elf el-f laneous Business at Lluit if Nights Session The City Council met in the Council Chamber last evening at the usual hour Mayor Sharp took the chair and the hearing hear-ing of petitions was commenced Erastue Snow asked to be allowed to tap the flume of the Nineteenth Ward ditch on the Canyon Road in order to get water for domestic purposes Granted Miriam H Brady of Union complained com-plained that the flumes of the canal near her property were badly damaged and should be replaced by new ones This the irrigating was a great inconvenience during gating season and she therefore petitioned the Council to make the necessary repairs re-pairs Referred to Committee on Canal Mrs Letitia Jones No Market Row on the claim that she was in needy circumstances i cir-cumstances and had had considerable sickness in her family asked to be allowed to sell refreshments and summer drinks free of license A recommendation recommenda-tion signed by a number citizens accompanied ac-companied her request which was granted Mr Pettit on behalf of Stanley Taylor the onearmed hackman asked for a remission re-mission license After some discussion it was found that Taylor was in pretty good circumstances and the petition was denied The Auditor then presented the following follow-ing report relative the condition of the sinking fund The fund amdunts to 46 49423 invpHrpd is follows In U S R R Extension bonds 10 000 note Z C M I 912557 note Z C M I 1162294 note Z C M I 36502 note Wm Jennings Sons p 1116124 cash 421946 Total 46 49423 The total revenue of the city for the past six months ending May 1st was 76235 onefifth of which the law provides pro-vides shall be set aside to form part of the sinking fund Report referred to Committee Com-mittee on Finance August Wilcken stated that he had L served nine months as minute clerk of the Council and asked an appropriation I of 50 as remuneration for services Granted Adjourned |
