Show A Novel Clock There is on exhibition in the window of L Hollander the jeweler a novel piece of mechanism in the shape of a clock The dial of the clock consists of a horizontal ship of glass on which appear the figures from 6 to 12 and from 1 to 6r placed in row across the glass Stretched over the glass dial is a thin yire on which is perched 8 bird The bird holds 1 pointer in its beak which runs down over the figures on the dial The bird moves from left to right on the wire marking time with the pointer When the bird reaches the right hand 6 it moves back to the left hand figure 6 thus marking time in the same manner as an ordinary clock There is no apparent connection apparent connecton of the bird with any motive power and how it moves with regularity marking the exact time is a mystery The clock is the only one of the kind in the world having been lately patented by Mr word lander The inventor claims that it is not worked by electricity magnetism or anv other ism and leaves it for each to say how the thing is done Crowds of curious observers have gathered around it but no satisfactory explanation has as yet been arrived itt w |
