Show T or THE CHAUTAIJQUA p Interesting Meeting Held last V Evening 0 It is a pleasing fact to note that in all the bustle and tussle of everyday life there are some who care to lay aside their business toils and devote some little time I I to the study of literature and science This is what the members of the Chau tauqua Literary and Scientific Circle are doing and their meeting last evening at the residence of Mr John Dull was a splendid exhibition of the result of their labors The evening was devoted to Addison Ad-dison his life times and writings Selections I Se-lections from his works were read by Miss Lowe Miss Rud and Mr Henry I Lawrence These interspersed with songs instrumental music and the two ably written papers The Time of Addison by Miss Van Voorhis and Addisons Delineation of Womans Character by Mrs Dull caused the hours to pass rapidly rapid-ly away and all went away unanimous in their praise of the meeting as an instructive in-structive and entertaining TheChautauqua meetsevery week and the topics discussed embrace everything every-thing that is instructive and beneficial Rev Mr Iliff is President of the Circle Mr Hall VicePresident and Miss Sadie Reed Secretary An invitation to the jeadingpublic to join theirranks always standing and the fact that it is constantly being taken advantage of shows that the work done by the Circle has agood influence influ-ence Meetings will be held until the end of June when the Circle will disband for a threemonths vacation resuming their labors again in the fall |
