Show THE CAIJj OF THE MOTHERS Hark to the cry of the aged far on the hilltops of Zion ' Tho Mideuinter tempest now rageth, Fierce the roar of tho famishing Hon And sad little mothers are calling For light, for bread and for fuel. While the crumbs from our banquets falling, Mutely branding us "slackers and Cruel." Remember the loving mother , That kissed you for aye, with a tear, In all the wide world no other Have you found so tender and near. Then think of the home on the hillside hill-side Where brave old mothers are Bitting Watching and waiting sad eyed Along with their thoughts and their knitting. List to the cry of the aged Afar in the noisesome city! The midwinter tempest now rageth. Oh haste to their rescue with pity. Bring them corn and wine and honey hon-ey And heaps of comforts and cheer, To make their latter days sunny And brighten the joyless year. Julia A.
