Uintah Basin residents will have same day service for almost all registered reg-istered copies of birth certificates thanks to new technology being tried by the Uintah Basin District Health Department in conjunction with the Utah Department of Health. On Sept. 10, a fax machine was installed at the Vemal office. This communication link will allow any person born in Utah to get a copy of his or her birth certificate from that office. Before this change only persons born in Daggett, Duchesne or Uintah Counties within the past five years received certified birth certificate certifi-cate copies from the Uintah Basin . District Health Department Others had to write or visit the Utah Department of Health's Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics in Salt Lake City. The new service, offered on a trial basis, involves a $5 fee for the expedited ex-pedited response in addition to the $12 fee for a certified birth certificate certifi-cate copy. If the fax service does not attract enough volume to reasonably pay for itself, the experiment will end in six weeks. "We are pleased to provide this unique service to Basin residents," say John Brockert, director of the Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics. The demand during this trial period peri-od will help determine if the faxing of certified copies will continue in the Vemal office and possibly be expanded to other local offices. 1 Services held for Deines Effie Maxine Harper Deines, 71 passes away September 12, 1990 in Salt Lake City at the LDS Hospital.
