Show The Paris correspondent of the Salt Lake Herald, describing the phenomenon of a young woman who can not be awakened from the sound sleep in which she lies, says: This young woman was picked up by the police eighty days ago, lying senseless on one of the public seats of the boulevards. Considered to be drunk, she was allowed to come to herself in a cell, but continuing still to sleep, and resisting all efforts to waken up she was conveyed to the hospital, where she has ever since lain in a comatose condition. It was found she was enciente, and recently she has been confined of a still born infant, aged five months, and event that never affected her sleep. Some cold baths told a little on her. A glimmering of consciousness appeared, and that was presumed led to her identity. The latter has not yet been re-established, but from the peculiar manner in which her hair is cut, and the religious medals found round her neck, it is concluded she has been a nun. In the hospital she lies as if a corpse, save for her feverish breathing. |
