Show THE JUBILEE. We are compelled to condense an account of the exercises of the late Sunday School jubilee, kindly furnished us by Brother Seth A. Langton. The exercises consisted of the singing by the congregation of children, of the twelve songs in the little book printed for the purpose, short addresses by the Stake Sabbath school officers, and others recitations, solos, music by the Logan brass band, &c. Among the most pleasing features of the affair were the playing of the juvenile primary martial band of Mendon, and of the Logan brass band: a duet of Misses Sarah and Martha Walters, with violin and organ accompaniment, and a catechism recitation in concert by a class of the Mendon Sunday school. Counselor Nibley moved a vote of thanks to Brother Wm. Knowles, who had labored in teaching the children to sing, and to all who had aided in getting up the jubilee. Carried. The attendance of children and adults was large considering the season of the year, and every Sunday school in the Stake was represented. The jubilee was in every sense a grand success, and will long be remembered as a most delightful occasion. |
