Show STRAWBERRIES ARE SERVED TO ALLPATIENTS For the first time in the history of the state mental hospital fresh strawberries in sufficient quantities to serve all patients of the institution institu-tion are now picked from the fields of the hospital, according to Dr. Frederick Dunn's monthly report to the state board of instauity. The patients of the institution are highly pleased with this addition to their menu. In addition tne splendid variety of strawberries being be-ing harvested, the institution's gardens gar-dens are producing a large quantity of green peas, turnips, kale, radishes rad-ishes and lettuce. In addition to the crop now plantett, Dr. Dunn states in his report that the management man-agement would like to try two acres of sorghum cane, if it is possible to find suitable land on which to plant it. The health of the patients during the past month has been good, the report states, there having been no unusual sickness.- During the month there were three deaths, the causes of which were one from exhaustion of the insane, one from arteriosclerosis arterio-sclerosis and one' from" epilepsy. On May 1 there were 736 regularly regular-ly committed and 26 voluntary patients, pa-tients, or a total of 702 under care and treatment in the institution. During the mouth 16 regular and 6 vountary patients or a total of 22 were admitted. Twelve regular and five voluntary patients were discharged dis-charged and three regular patients died, leaving 737 regulnr and 27 voluntary, vol-untary, or a total of 764 patients remaining re-maining on June 1, 1025. Fees and other cash receipts sent to the state treasurer during the month of May amounted to $2,819.80. The patients' fund had a balance of cash on hand on May 1 of .$1,091.50. During the month $2,189.34 was received re-ceived and $362.32 disbursed, leaving leav-ing a balance on hand of $2,918.52. Other disbursements for May were as follows: Maintenance, $7,101.73; repairs, $2,563.47; equipment, $i,-029.14; $i,-029.14; office expense, $102.01; travel expense. $183.29; salaries and wages, $7,744.40, or a total of $19,0S4.64. |
