Show MYSTERY MAN ATTACKS GIRL IN CITY PARK Vigilant Search For Assailant Fails to Find Him In Springville Hns Provo's "mystery man," who for so lonK attacked small pirls after dark, moved bis activities to Springville? That is n question which not only the Springville officers but also the sheriff's office XJtnh county have been trying to solve following an attack made on n sixhyear-old Springville girl Sunday evening at the city park during the band concert. con-cert. The assailant, described as a ''tall, slender man," uses the same tactics as the ''tall, slender man" who attacked some small girls last spring near the Franklin school in Provo. Three little Springville girls about six years of age were playing around on the grass of the cityt park during the band concert there between 8 and 9 o'clock while their parents were sitting on' some nearby benches enjoying the concert. Suddenly a "tall, slender man" wearing a straw hat came up to the little girls and addressed them. "I haye lost some keys over here at the other side of the park' he said. "I cant find them alone. If you girls will help me find the keys I'll give you five cents apiece." Not suspecting anyhting wrong the girls accompanied the man in an effort to help find the keys. As soon ns they csnie down fn the corner of the park away from the crowd, he grabbed one of the girls and began to tear off her clothes. She screamed at the top of her voice and the "tall, slender man" started to run across the grass to the other corner of the park. Attracted by the screams of the girl, several men set in pursuit of the assailant but they were unable to find any trace of him. The girl reported th incidnt to her father, who assisted in the enase and the search until late in the night, but the "tall, slender man" could not be found. |
