Show Final rites accorded Ona J. Lewis Funeral services were held for Ona Jones Lewis August 25 at 2 p.m. in the Cedar Eighth Ward Chapel with Bishop Jeff Mar-chant Mar-chant conducting. The family prayer was offered by Arthur Jones with Christy Bradshaw playing the prelude and postlude music and Scott Lewis giving the invocation. Mrs. Lewis, 60 died August 21, at the Valley View Medical Center after a lingering illness. She was born April 28. 1915 in Cedar City to W. Arthur and Blanche Corry Jones. She married Belden Walker Lewis July 11, 1940 in Tacoma, Wash.; the marriage was later solemnized solem-nized in the St. George Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church; a past member of the Ladies Business and Professional Women's Club and a past Lady Lion. She is survived by her husband of Cedar City; six sons and one daughter; Roger B. Lewis, Ft. Ord, Calif.; William C. Lewis, Linden; Scott J., American Fork; Alan J.; Evan J.; and Brent J. Lewis all of Cedar City; and Marcia Lewis of Provo. Also surviving are 12 ' grandchildren, her father W. Arthur Jones; and sister Mrs. E. T. (Shirley) Marchant of Cedar and Betty Lou Jones, Salt Lake City. Musical selections during the funeral consisted of a vocal duet by Cynthia and James Dunaway "Abide with me Tis Eventide" accompanied by Shirley Roper; a vocal solo by Shirley Roper, "The Lord's Prayer" accompanied ac-companied by Cynthia Dunaway and a vocal solo by Blaine Johnson "Great Peace have they which love they Law" who was accompanied by Loa Johnson. Speakers were Roger Lewis, Elwood Corry and Bill Lewis, lone Bolander gave a tribute to Mrs. Lewis and remarks were given by Bishop Jeff Marchant. The benediction was given by Evan Lewis and Alan Lewis dedicated the grave. Interment was in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuaries. |
